Are you legally married during the ceremony, or when you get your marriage license?

If you got left at the alter, do you need a divorce or an annulment? Are you legally married during the ceremony, or when you get your marriage license?
You are not married until the person performing the ceremony says ';I now pronounce you man and wife.'; After the ceremony the person who married you will sign the marriage certificate. Then, you are married.

You aren't married if you are left at the altar.....that is why you would be left at the altar; because the person didn't want to get married. Are you legally married during the ceremony, or when you get your marriage license?
You are legally married AFTER the ceremony, when the officiant files the paperwork.

If you're left at the alter, there was no marriage. The license allows you to get married, but the paperwork is filed by the officiant after the ceremony, when all three parties (the two getting married, and the officiant) have signed the paperwork.
no you are not married if both parties did not sayi do, unless of course you would be a comon law marriage, which would hve to meet certain guidelines
