What if you file married on your taxes but you are not?

The rep from h and r block instructed me two years ago two file married even though I was not. My fiance and I were planning to get married in the next three months. We did not get married and now I dont know what to do.What if you file married on your taxes but you are not?
Well, you can either amend your return to file it correctly (which is what you should do) citing the misrepsentation of information by your H%26amp;R Block preparer (which is illegal on the preparer's part, he told you to lie on your taxes!) And since the preparer had to sign the tax return, it will be on H%26amp;R Block to pay the penalties %26amp; interest. You will probably have to pay the difference of the tax amount. But you may be able to sue H%26amp;R Block for ';wrongful damage'; because your preparer falsified your information.

Or you can just hope the IRS doesn't catch it. (I wouldn't bank on it though)What if you file married on your taxes but you are not?
File an amended return. You may get hit with a small penalty, but it shouldn't be too bad.

If the IRS figures it out on its own, then you can expect a big penalty.
File an amended return and call a lawyer if the IRS wants to talk about it instead of just accepting it.
